Like you, I would’ve waffled (if not for SZA) about watching- especially after carefully reviewing all of the new classical nominees. (You think the main categories are bad?!) I had the grammys on while working in my hotel room. Looked up to watch the performances- got a lot of work done. The Fairbanks TV station replayed the entire show over again and I didn’t notice for a disturbingly long while. When that Mastercard commercial played, I thought, “This is going to be on SZA’s next album, and that thing is going to be GOOD!” I was so happy to see that saturn single drop. I love your perspective, Miers!

Joni Mitchell blew everyone else out of the water as did Tracy Chapman.

never ever have wanted to watch the Grammys. Did so this year, hoping to catch a glimpse of Declan!

I’ve never paid attention to the Grammys. I try whenever possible to avoid supporting the corporate state, which has infected everything including arts and culture. I appreciated Trevor Noah’s autobiography but he and the elites echo chamber of late night entertainment hosts became the useful idiots for the state when delivering a narrative of “jokes” (probably naively) designed to throw Julian Assange under the bus after the publisher, not whistleblower, was illegally kidnapped from politically sovereign territory of the embassy. Noah also gave a ridiculous speech at the fake press core dinner last year where he pandered to corporate media who are even more ridiculous in their propaganda than even fake awards shows like the Grammys.

I watched the ESPN Pickleball gig with tennis players I liked, and still like, to see. I saw the opening act at the Grammys which was not bad and switched back from Pickleball to catch Tracy Chapman and the other guy. She is beautiful and her performance was smooth. Trevor Noah tried too hard to carry the sinking reputation of Grammy Night. Maybe the Grammy host 2025 should be Ricky Gervais - he'd turn things upside down and shake them up...or "Shake It Off".
